Since its inception in 1976, the CREW method has become the benchmark tool for weeding library collections in small and medium sized public and school libraries around the world. CREW stands for Continuous Review, Evaluation, and Weeding. Developed by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission, CREW: A Weeding Manual for Modern Libraries, provides guidance to librarians and staff on how to cull outdated and no longer useful materials from their collections in a systematic and consistent way.
